Module comparisons???

Hello,

I was wondering what are the best options for Module comparisons? Meaning I know that the comparison features within DOORS doesn't compare richText and Ole objects what would be the best way on comparing two modules? I was thinking of using RPE to print the two modules using the same template then using MS word comparision to diff the files, but I not sure if MS Word compares ole objects and I can't find any documentation to state weather or not that it supports that feature. Any thoughts?

What type of OLE objects are you thinking of? If Word tables, then you used to be able to export from DOORS to Word using WEXP with an option to place Word tables in-line rather than embedding them as OLEs, then the diff would redline them for you. AFAIK, it will otherwise indicate that something has changed in the OLE, but not the nature of the change. There may also be third party comparison tools that can compare OLEs...

Hey Jim, we built a powerful compare feature into BranchManager will enables you to compare attributes, pictures, OLEs, tables, links and also hierarchy (moves) in a configurable way between baselines, different modules sharing a common attribute or modules that are linked together 1:1. There is a "Compare Only" licenses available for not much money - for more info you might want to take a look at the sodius website:

http://sodius.com/branchmanager-doors

if you are interested in a commercial solution. If you want to do your own, I released the code, that you need for OLE comparison here:

If you have questions, I am happy to help. Hope this helps, Regards, Mathias
